Step 2: Staple and Cut Out the Craft Shapes

Once you have the rocket ship template printed out, staple it to construction paper and cut out multiple shapes at a time.

Note: If you want to make this craft with a group of kids, you can staple the template to up to 10 sheets of copy paper, 5 sheets of cardstock or 6-10 sheets of construction paper.

So, did you know, you can staple together 10 pieces of copy paper and cut out 10 shapes at a time?!That’s mySECRETto fast & easy crafting.

Stapling the paper is very important because it makes sure it doesn’t move as you cut. The more staples the better. Cardstock is the thickest so you may only be able to cut 5 sheets at a time.

After you have your rocket ship shapes cut out, move on to the next step – Putting it all together.

Step 3: How to Assemble this Rocketship craft

The kids will have so much fun making this outer space craft!

I recommend having a rocket ship that is already put together so the children can see what the final version will look like.

  1. Start with the large part of the rocket ship.
  2. Glue on the bottom of the rocket ship.
  3. Glue on the wings. Make sure the straight edge is at the bottom.
  4. Glue on the nose.
  5. Glue on the window.
  6. Glue the orange flame on top of the red flame – it makes some cool rocket flames.
  7. Glue the flame to the bottom of the rocket.
  8. Optional: Glue your completed rocket onto a piece of black paper to make the night sky. You can even use a star-shaped craft punch or white paint and q-tips to add stars
  9. don’t forget to write your name on the back

Optional step: Glue your rocket ship to black paper to make the night sky. You can even add stars using star stickers, a small hole punch, glitter, or splash white paint with a paintbrush. Add the moon or planets. Use your imagination to make an awesome space background.

And you’re finished!

This is such a fun and simple outer space craft for kids. This paper rocket ship is perfect for a Things That Go, space-themed unit, or Space lesson plan. And it’s easy enough for preschool, kindergarten, elementary, Scouts or just a cute craft at home idea.
