During World War II, Ferruccio Lamborghini (played by Romano Reggiani) returned home to Cento, Italy, from the war. His father was a farmer who wanted his son to continue farming, but Ferruccio was more interested in mechanics and wanted to build tractors. He told his father that during the war, he used to build military vehicles, so he was more interested in building vehicles. Meanwhile, Ferruccio married the love of his life, Clelia, (played by Hannah van der Westhuysen) who was carrying his child. Then, Ferruccio and his military comrade Matteo decided to build tractors and began sketching designs for them. But there was a scarcity of funds, so Ferruccio requested that his father lend him some money. Since his father didn’t have that much money, his father mortgaged his farm and gave Ferruccio the entire sum. Ferruccio and Matteo began building their brand-new tractors, but in the meantime, Matteo fell in love with Annita (played by Mira Sorvino). Ferruccio spoke to her because Matteo was too shy to interact with a woman. Matteo understood that Annita didn’t like him but enjoyed talking to Ferruccio. Ferruccio, on the other hand, was dedicated to his wife, Clelia, and waited for their child to be born, but on the expected day, Ferruccio got home late and discovered his wife had been admitted to the hospital. Clelia gave birth to a beautiful son, but she died as a result of postpartum bleeding. Ferruccio was devastated but pulled himself together, so he joined his buddy Matteo after several days. Annita strolled in when they were enjoying dinner at a restaurant. Ferruccio left Matteo to let him meet with Annita, but Annita approached Ferruccio instead of Matteo. Annita confessed to Ferruccio that he was the only one who could catch her attention. So Ferruccio recognized that Annita could be his wife, who could raise his son Tonino since his wife had died. Matteo couldn’t bear it, and their wonderful friendship deteriorated into hostility. The plot moved forward to 1963 when Ferruccio Lamborghini (played by Frank Grillo) established his own tractor factory, but Matteo was not with him. What Happened to Annita? Was Ferruccio Selfish?
Ferruccio Lamborghini married Annita and made her the accountant in their company. With all the love and care Annita raised Ferruccio’s kid, Tonino, who was not even her biological child. Tonino knew his mother had died, so Annita was the one he regarded as his mother the most. Ferruccio, on the other hand, informed her that he would never love her and that she would one day hate him for it. Annita saw Ferruccio flirting with other women on multiple occasions, which emotionally hurt her. In the meantime, Ferruccio was engaged in a rivalry with Enzo Ferrari, who was already at the pinnacle of his success with his Ferrari vehicles, which upset Ferruccio. When Annita saw that her husband, Ferruccio, was considering producing his own automobile under the Lamborghini brand, she urged him not to do so because it would result in a large loss for his firm due to the high cost. She informed Ferruccio that if he did not pay his employees enough for the project, they would go on strike against him. Annita didn’t care about money or recognition; all she wanted was for Ferruccio to look after his family and son, which Ferruccio neglected to do. Even when Ferruccio first enlisted his father’s assistance to invest in tractor construction, his first wife, Clelia, urged him not to do so since Ferruccio’s behavior was selfish. Ferruccio was presented as a selfish man throughout the film, which may or may not be accurate, but in my opinion, Ferruccio was not evil, even though he was a little egotistical about his innovations. He desperately wanted to make his own mark in the world, as we all do, but the film showed that his selfishness caused him to lose people whom he loved. Ferruccio’s best friend, Matteo, left him because Ferruccio could only think of him and his son and married the same woman his friend was in love with, though Annita eventually divorced him for his stubbornness and negligence toward his family. Annita had a lot of feelings for Ferruccio, but she never got back the same effort from him, so when she spotted him flirting with a woman at the party, she chose to respect herself and walked away from the marriage.

Ferruccio Lamborghini’s postwar tractor industry produced such a large profit that he became a wealthy and prominent man, but he was never satisfied with his success since he constantly wanted to create something bigger. He owned several Ferraris that he adored, but he discovered that they all had clutch problems. So, one day, Ferruccio confronted Enzo Ferrari (played by Gabriel Byrne) and said such to him, sparking a rivalry between the two. Ferrari was outraged and referred to Ferruccio as a farmer who could only produce tractors. Since that day, the need for vengeance has fueled Ferruccio’s mind, and he sets out to build his own car. He spoke with former engineers from other well-known automobile firms who had quit their jobs to assist Lamborghini. Finally, at the Geneva Motor Show, the first Lamborghini 350 GT competed with Ferrari. Later, the Lamborghini Miura, a revolutionary innovation that surprised everyone, was released. Ferruccio became the legend behind Lamborghini, which became one of the most popular supercars. Ferruccio’s peace of mind, however, was short-lived, as his company was losing money due to the massive loss of his tractor company. Thousands of his employees unionized against him, preventing him from firing them to cover the expenses. Meanwhile, Italy’s economic situation deteriorated, which pressured Ferruccio, and he sold his company to retire. Ferruccio returned to his roots in farming in Umbria, Italy. He was heartbroken that he couldn’t continue to work with Lamborghini automobiles, which he had created with his innovative thinking and hard labor. So it appeared that he had to give in to Ferrari, as evidenced by the car race. In the car race between Ferrari and Lamborghini, we observed Lamborghini’s car stop before Ferrari won. Even though Lamborghini did not lose in real life and became the most expensive and luxurious supercar in the world, Ferruccio Lamborghini could not stay long enough with the company and retired. “Lamborghini: The Man Behind the Legend” was not an accurate portrayal of a legendary man like Ferruccio Lamborghini, who invented one of the world’s most stylish cars. The film solely displayed facts from Wikipedia that we are all familiar with. This film lacked research and did not honor Ferruccio’s true struggle, instead focusing on how selfish he was. The portrayal only focused on his flirting with women and harming his loved ones. Following the famous marketing of Lamborghini automobiles throughout the 1960s, Ferruccio faced a major dilemma with his tractors, which were rejected by countries such as South Africa and Bolivia. To avoid a massive loss, he sold 51% of Lamborghini to a Swiss businessman. He even suffered a loss during Italy’s massive oil crisis, when production costs surged; thus, he sold his remaining 49% stake at Lamborghinis and retired from his post. His actual battle was not revealed in the film but only hinted at, which was unexpected. Nonetheless, “Lamborghini: The Man Behind the Legend” was a commendable effort, but the actual struggle of the man behind the legend deserved to be highlighted more in his biopic.
