After posting Siopao/ Steam Buns and getting a lot of reactions and questions about it, I decided on this Meat Bread. This is made in my Instant Pot Duo Crisp plus Air fryer lid.

I had this when I was in the Philippines. We have this for snacks all the time.

Today, I will teach you:

  1. How to make Meat Bread using my dough recipe. This recipe yields very fluffy and soft buns.
  2. How to store this meat bread.
  3. How to reheat them in the Instant Pot.
  4. How long do you cook meat bread in the Instant Pot?

Equipment

I want to emphasize each instant pot is different, and some settings may not be on the instant pot you got. In my case, I am usingInstant Pot Duo Crisp 11-in-1 Electric Pressure Cooker with Air Fryer Lid, 8 Quart. This Instant pot doesn’t have the rice setting, so I am using the pressure cooker setting.

Ingredients for Instant Pot Meat Bread

  • Active dry yeast- make sure that you use the correct one instead of instant dry yeast. When I was testing this Ube Pandesal recipe using fast-rise yeast, the result was complex and had a lot of holes in it.
  • Sugar – I used granulated sugar.
  • Warm water & warm fresh milk
  • All-purpose flour some tried making this using bread flour, and whole wheat flour.
  • Butter- you need to use melted butter in this recipe can use unsalted butter and salted butter.
  • Eggs- at room temperature.
  • Salt & sugar

What Filling Recipe Did I Use?

I have various Steam Buns Recipe Filling on the blog and all of them are tasty and delicious. You can use the list below to fill your steam buns.

  • Gua Bao -I use pork belly in this recipe. You can change the meat into pork roast or pork shoulder
  • Chicken/ Pork Filling– this is on the sweeter side, which is my favorite. Use pork instead of chicken.

How to Store?

They can be frozen. 🙂 Wrap them in a plastic and freeze. When ready, wrap in a damp towel and microwave for 20-30 minutes.

Hi!!! Sorry I just got this. Once you cook the meat bread, you can store the leftovers in the fridge. In order to reheat that, wrap it with a damp paper towel and microwave for thirty seconds. TC 🙂

FAQs

Can I bake in an Instant Pot? ›

Not only that—Instant Pots can slow cook, roast, bake, steam, air fry, and dehydrate countless ingredients, helping to create some of the most tasty and memorable dishes.

Can you use an Instant Pot for sourdough starter? ›

My 36 hour starter, done in the instant pot. In a large mason jar mix 3/4 cup of the flour with 3/4 water, using a wooden or plastic spoon. Cover and place on a trivet (with handles), it is easier to get them out this way. Set to the yogurt setting for 3 hours.

What happens if you let bread proof too long? ›

If you leave your bread dough to rise for too long outside at room temperature, there is a risk of overproofing the dough. It might look alright in appearance, but when you bake the bread, it will not rise much in the oven. The end result will be a dense loaf of bread.

How do you proof bread quickly? ›

A Bowl of Steaming Water is the Key to Quickly Proofing Bread. In the winter, when your house and kitchen are at a crisp temperature and you need a warm spot for your dough to rise, create a makeshift “proof box” by placing a bowl of steaming water inside your oven alongside your bowl of dough.

How long does it take to proof homemade bread? ›

The proofing time for bread dough varies based on the dough's makeup (amount of preferment, flour choices, and hydration) and the temperature at which it's proofed. The dough should generally be proofed for around 1 to 4 hours at a warm temperature or overnight (or more) at a cold refrigerator temperature.

Why is my dough not rising with instant yeast? ›

Yeast is too hot Yeast may have been dissolved in water that was too hot, or the liquid ingredients in the recipe may be too hot, causing the yeast to die. Yeast needs to be warm - not too hot, not too cold. Yeast is too cold If the other ingredients are too cold, it could cause some of the yeast to die.

Do you need to let dough rise twice with instant yeast? ›

With instant yeast, you typically will only need to let it rise once. Instant Yeast will raise a loaf in a hurry and may yield a more light and airy bread. Because this type of yeast usually contains dough enhancers that cultivate a stronger rise, this yeast is best for baking a quick bread dough.

Do you need to proof dough with instant yeast? ›

Not only does it skip the proofing/dissolving step, instant yeast simply ramps up more quickly than active dry. Dough made with instant yeast and shaped into a loaf will rise to its optimal height significantly more quickly than a shaped loaf made with active dry yeast.

Are mason jars good for sourdough starter? ›

Mason jars and old sauerkraut jars are popular favorites. Crocks are very traditional. Any of these can be a fine jar to use when you start baking sourdough bread. Don't let finding the perfect jar stop you from baking your first loaves!

Can I use dry yeast instead of sourdough starter? ›

Generally, you can substitute a packet of yeast for 100g of sourdough starter. If your recipe uses less than a packet of yeast, you can use less sourdough starter, however it won't make too much difference because of the way wild yeast works.

Can I use a pickle jar for sourdough starter? ›

These handy airtight containers are great for food fermentation, whether it be to top up your kimchi supply or store your sourdough starter. The anaerobic environment these pickling jars create make them the perfect fit for food fermentation, and their glass material ensures that no BPA chemicals can enter.

How do you proof bread without a proof box? ›

To proof bread in the oven, place a glass baking dish on the bottom rack of the oven and fill it with boiling water. Stash your dough on the middle or top rack and shut the door. The steam and heat from the boiling water will create a warm and steamy environment for the dough—exactly what you want for a good rise.

Should bread be covered when proofing? ›

Covering your dough correctly is a crucial step here. For best results, we want a non-porous, tight-fitting cover that will keep the dough from becoming too cool or developing a skin. And a towel doesn't cut it: The porous material allows heat to escape, causing the dough to lose temperature.

Do you need to proof bread with instant yeast? ›

Not only does it skip the proofing/dissolving step, instant yeast simply ramps up more quickly than active dry. Dough made with instant yeast and shaped into a loaf will rise to its optimal height significantly more quickly than a shaped loaf made with active dry yeast.

Can I use my slow cooker to proof bread dough? ›

Then, place your dough inside the slow cooker and cover it with a clean, damp towel. Close the lid and let the magic happen. Check on your dough occasionally to make sure it's rising at the right pace. If it's going too fast or slow, adjust the temperature or turn off the slow cooker as needed.
