Union County Fairgrounds 4th of July Car Show:

Central Ohio Car Shows, Cruise-Ins, and Meet-ups for July 5 - 10, 2022 (32)

Last year the show was moved from July 4th to October 16. Only 22 cars turned out on the October date. This year the organizers returned the show back to July 4th which was a good decision. The show registered 114 vehicles on Monday. There was lots of parking available in the shade. Five food trucks provided a variety of food and refreshments.

The show awarded plaques to the "Top 24" cars and trucks along with a Best of Show.

The Best of Show award went to Bob and Chris Johnson with a 1965 Ford AC Shelby Cobra.

My only minor nitpicks with the show is it didn't include the name of the car owner on the window placard. Hopefully, it will be included next year.

Champaign Cruisers 24th Annual Firecracker Car, Truck & Bike Show:

As always, the big event of the July 4th weekend is the Champaign Cruisers Firecracker Car, Truck, and Bike Show at the Skelley Lumber Company in Urbana, Ohio.

The event attracts cars from central and western Ohio and eastern Indiana.

Attendance on Monday reached 687 cars. Our good friend, Jeff Shankle, posted six sets of photos from the show on Facebook!

Here's a sampling of some of the photos Jeff posted.

Other Shows:

  • 1st Annual Stockhands Horses for Healling Car Show in Delaware, Ohio registered 60 cars on Saturday.
  • The Heart of Ohio Antique Center in Springfield, Ohio had about 70 cars in attendance for its monthly Cruise-In.

Special thanks to Jeff Shankle, Dale Pearce, Mike Hermann, and Dave Bratton for their contributions. Between myself and the four of them, we covered car shows in nine different cities this week. Not bad.

FAQs

What does it mean when your car shows cruise? ›

Cruise control is a feature that helps reduce such fatigue drivers would feel while driving a long distance. The system imitates the way human drivers drive. But instead of pressing the accelerator pedal, it uses an actuator to control the throttle and helps your car continue cruising at the same speed.

Why does my car show cruise? ›

The cruise main light tells you that the cruise control system is on after you push the on/off button. However, that does not mean it's active. You still need to use the controls to set the cruise control speed.

Is cruise in a car good? ›

Cruise control is one feature you'll want from a good car for road trips and other frequent highway driving. It can not only potentially help you get better gas mileage but also make driving much more comfortable.

What is the difference between a cruise and a cruise tour? ›

Next, Know What's Meant By A "Cruisetour":

Very simply, it's the addition of a land tour to your cruise. We not only recommend it, but go so far as to say you haven't fully experienced Alaska without adding a land tour.

What is considered a show car? ›

A show car, sometimes called a dream car, is a custom-made automobile created specifically for public display, rather than sale.

Is a cruise faster than a car? ›

Ship speed is measured in knots. One knot is equivalent to one nautical mile per hour, which is 1.852 km/h to be precise. The larger passenger cruise ships will travel around 21 to 24 knots, which is 38.9 to 44.4 km/h. For a car on the road, that doesn't seem fast.
